I wrote my first ever garment pattern and not only the first garment but my first knit pattern! Through a partnership with Sewrella Yarn, I was able to write and create the Indoorsy Cardigan! The cardigan is a textured loose full-length cardigan that utilizes the softness and halo effect of suri lace held with a worsted weight yarn. A loose gauge makes this cardigan airy and comfy, making it the perfect layering piece at home or on the go.
This pattern is a drop-shoulder cardigan with side seams and shoulder seams to join all of the pieces together. I rate this pattern a beginner/intermediate due to the simple nature of the construction and no intensive shaping.
An endless array of yarn combinations can be made to make this piece. But the star of the show in my opinion is the fuzzy base that really makes the stitch definition pop! My preference when it comes to fuzzy bases is to use a suri lace (74/26% suri alpaca/silk) I have tried mohairs and suri socks but they all end up feeling too scratchy or have a “hairy” feeling when I wear them. Of course, this is just my personal experience with these other bases and I have definitely not tried all the fuzzy bases that are out there.
I am currently working on my second Indoorsy Cardighan and am using a variegated suri lace from the Sewrella Yarn Downton Abbey Collection held with Wool of the Andes worsted superwash from WeCrochet. This pairing is creating a beautiful fabric that is just as cozy as the 100% hand-dyed version while cutting the cost of yarn in half! I love the opportunity to work with companies such as Sewrella Yarn to create these beautiful projects but I know hand-dyed yarn is not affordable, especially when using a lot of yarn in a project. I can not wait to see what other pairings are made for this pattern!
The pattern is available on the Sewrella Yarn website here!
